From the Feet Up (1 X 1:15 hour workshop)
Workshop Presenter: Swami Ambikananda
Grace and ease of movement ~ whether dancing, walking or doing āsana ~ depends on a centred posture. Any change in the way our feet hit the ground, whatever we are doing, requires a compensatory adjustment throughout the body. In this workshop Swamiji will look at the structure of the foot and ankle and how the body responds to changes in the ‘feel’ of balance.
The workshop will include several pre-āsana movements that not only make the students more aware of their feet and ankles and how they meet the ground, but the impact this has on the entire body.

Philosophy from the mat (2 X 1:15 hour workshops)
Workshop Presenter: Swami Ambikananda
In the hour or hour-and-a-half we have with our students in each class, how do we talk about Yoga philosophy? And given that the major reason students are attending Yoga classes ~ in person or online ~ is for ‘health and wellbeing’ does philosophy have any place?
In these two workshops Swamiji will talk about two philosophical concepts from a Yoga perspective:
Session 1 : Yoga and mind
Session 2 : Mind, Choice and Meditation
She will review Yoga’s philosophical position on these concepts and then offer them as a teaching that can be explored through āsana.
Date of first Workshop : 11th October, 2020 start 9.00 a.m. to 10.15 am.
Date of second Workshop : 15th November, 2020 start 9.00 a.m. to 10.15 pm.
